These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern access to and use of the Civyx platform ("Civyx", "Platform", "Service").
By accessing, browsing, registering for, or using Civyx, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Platform.
1. About Civyx
Civyx is a technology platform designed to facilitate connections between volunteers, associations, organisations and, where applicable, supporting companies.
The Platform enables users to:
- Create and manage profiles;
- Publish and discover volunteering opportunities and events;
- Apply for participation in activities;
- Exchange information relating to events and volunteering activities;
- Participate in community engagement programs and recognition initiatives.

2. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms.
Civyx may update these Terms from time to time.
Where material changes are made, users may be notified through the Platform or by email.
Continued use of the Platform following publication of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
3. Eligibility
You may use the Platform only if:
- You are at least 16 years old;
- You have legal capacity under applicable law;
- You are not prohibited from using the Platform under applicable law.
Organisations and companies must be legally authorised to operate in their respective jurisdictions.
Users acting on behalf of an organisation represent and warrant that they are authorised to do so.
4. User Accounts
Users are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials;
- Keeping account information accurate and up to date;
- Restricting access to their account;
- Promptly notifying Civyx of any suspected unauthorised access.
Users may not:
- Share accounts;
- Create accounts on behalf of another person without permission;
- Impersonate another individual, organisation or entity;
- Create multiple accounts for abusive purposes.
Users remain responsible for all activities conducted through their accounts.
5. Role of Civyx
Civyx acts solely as a technology intermediary platform.
Civyx:
- Does not organise events;
- Does not employ volunteers;
- Does not supervise activities;
- Does not control relationships between users;
- Does not guarantee participation;
- Does not guarantee the accuracy of information published by users.
Civyx is not a party to any agreement, relationship or arrangement established between users.
Any interaction, engagement or participation occurring through the Platform is solely between the relevant users.
Participation in activities, events or volunteer engagements occurs entirely at the participant's own responsibility and risk.
6. Event Participation and Organiser Responsibilities
Associations, organisations and event organisers are solely responsible for:
- Organising activities and events;
- Participant safety;
- Compliance with applicable laws;
- Obtaining permits and authorisations where required;
- Insurance coverage where appropriate;
- Providing accurate event information;
- Managing participants and attendance.
Civyx does not:
- Conduct background checks;
- Verify identities beyond normal account registration procedures;
- Verify qualifications, certifications or licences;
- Verify criminal records;
- Guarantee participant behaviour.
Users acknowledge that Civyx cannot guarantee the conduct, reliability, suitability or availability of any participant, organiser or organisation.
7. User Obligations
Users agree to:
- Provide accurate information;
- Maintain respectful behaviour;
- Comply with applicable laws;
- Respect the rights and privacy of others;
- Use the Platform only for legitimate purposes;
- Report unlawful or abusive content when encountered.
Users remain solely responsible for content they publish, upload, transmit or otherwise make available through the Platform.
8. Prohibited Activities
Users may not:
- Violate any applicable law;
- Harass, threaten or abuse others;
- Publish discriminatory, hateful or violent content;
- Publish pornographic or sexually explicit content;
- Publish misleading or fraudulent information;
- Create fake organisations or events;
- Misrepresent affiliations or qualifications;
- Upload malicious software or harmful code;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems or accounts;
- Circumvent security mechanisms;
- Scrape, crawl or extract data through automated means;
- Send spam or unsolicited communications;
- Manipulate statistics, engagement metrics or recognition points;
- Use the Platform for unlawful fundraising activities.
Violation of this section may result in immediate suspension or termination.
9. Community Standards
Users must comply with civyx.appmunity Guidelines and any additional policies published on the Platform.
Civyx may remove, restrict, disable or moderate content that it reasonably believes:
- Violates these Terms;
- Violates applicable law;
- Violates the rights of third parties;
- Creates safety risks;
- Damages the integrity of the Platform.
Civyx may take such actions with or without prior notice.
10. Recognition Points
Recognition points are intended solely as a community engagement mechanism.
Recognition points:
- Have no monetary value;
- Are not electronic money;
- Are not financial instruments;
- Are not redeemable for cash;
- Do not constitute salary, compensation or employment benefits;
- Cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged unless expressly permitted by Civyx.
Civyx reserves the right to:
- Modify points rules;
- Introduce expiration periods;
- Adjust balances to correct errors;
- Suspend or discontinue the program.
Recognition points do not create any vested rights.
11. Rewards and Third-Party Benefits
Where rewards, benefits or offers are made available through the Platform, additional terms may apply.
Civyx does not guarantee:
- Reward availability;
- Partner participation;
- Product quality;
- Service quality;
- Delivery times.
Any issues relating to third-party rewards must be addressed directly with the relevant provider.
12. User Content
Users retain ownership of content they submit to the Platform.
By publishing content, users grant Civyx a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:
- Host;
- Store;
- Display;
- Reproduce;
- Adapt;
- Distribute;
such content solely for purposes related to operating, improving and promoting the Platform.
Users represent that they possess all rights necessary to publish such content.
13. Intellectual Property
All rights relating to:
- Civyx;
- Software;
- Databases;
- User interface;
- Logos;
- Trademarks;
- Documentation;
- Designs;
remain the exclusive property of Civyx or its licensors.
Nothing in these Terms grants ownership rights to users.
Users may not reproduce, distribute, modify or exploit Platform materials without prior written consent.
14. Beta and Experimental Features
Certain features may be designated as beta, pilot, preview or experimental services.
Such features:
- May contain bugs;
- May be incomplete;
- May change at any time;
- May be discontinued without notice.
Users acknowledge that beta features are provided on an "as available" basis and may not perform as expected.
15. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Platform is provided:
- "As is";
- "As available".
Civyx makes no warranties regarding:
- Availability;
- Reliability;
- Accuracy;
- Security;
- Fitness for a particular purpose;
- Error-free operation.
Users assume all risks associated with use of the Platform.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Swiss law, Civyx shall not be liable for:
- Indirect damages;
- Consequential damages;
- Loss of profits;
- Loss of revenue;
- Loss of goodwill;
- Loss of opportunity;
- Loss of data.
Civyx shall not be liable for:
- User conduct;
- Event cancellations;
- Accidents occurring during activities;
- Injuries sustained during participation;
- Disputes between users;
- Misconduct of associations, volunteers or companies.
Where liability cannot be excluded, Civyx's total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount paid by the affected user to Civyx during the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
Where no payment has been made, Civyx's liability shall be limited to the minimum amount permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
17. Indemnification
Users agree to indemnify and hold Civyx harmless against claims, damages, losses, liabilities and expenses arising from:
- Violation of these Terms;
- Violation of applicable laws;
- Infringement of third-party rights;
- Content published by the user;
- Activities conducted through the user's account.
18. Suspension and Termination
Civyx may suspend, restrict or terminate access to the Platform where it reasonably believes that:
- These Terms have been violated;
- Fraudulent activity has occurred;
- Platform security is threatened;
- Legal obligations require such action.

Termination does not affect accrued rights or obligations.
19. Force Majeure
Civyx shall not be liable for delays or failures resulting from events beyond its reasonable control, including:
- Natural disasters;
- Power outages;
- Internet failures;
- Cyberattacks;
- Government actions;
- Labour disputes;
- Infrastructure failures;
- Cloud service outages.
20. Privacy
The processing of personal data is governed by the Civyx Privacy Policy.
By using the Platform, users acknowledge having read the Privacy Policy.
21. Governing Law
These Terms are governed exclusively by Swiss law.
The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) does not apply.
22. Jurisdiction
Subject to mandatory legal provisions, any dispute arising from these Terms shall be submitted to the competent courts of the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland.
23. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
24. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between Civyx and its users regarding use of the Platform.
